  Presidents Message:

One of the goals I mentioned in last year's message was to continue to expand the club's membership and we have accomplished that. .. we have grown!  We now have over 50 members and were honored with an award at the GCNJ Spring meeting for largest membership increase! Congratulations.

I'm also pleased to say that last year's Hidden Gardens Tour was probably the best organized and most successful tour yet.  We received very positive feedback from tour goers .... it was also a solid fund raiser for the club. It took a great deal of work but it all paid off. Many thanks again to those who helped out and to the members who opened up their gardens for the tour.

That being said ... we now have some money to spend on Civic Improvements.  This fall, the club will redesign ALL the town planters with new plant material and rejuvenate the 'H' planting beds in Heritage Park.  If needed, we will also purchase plant material for the Clarksburg Triangle and the Allentown Library.

In addition, we will continue to plant daffodils in Heritage Park. This year, the National Garden Club has launched a project called Daffodil Blooms, to encourage clubs to plant any and all kinds of daffodils in as many places as possible: parks, schools, containers and our own homes. Clubs that plant the most bulbs will receive a prize so let's keep track of our planting!

The Program Committee has developed an exciting year's worth of programs.  Barbara & Arleen asked for input as to what type of topics YOU were most interested in and they worked very hard to include programs to meet your interests.  Each month will feature a new and exciting presentation or hands on workshop.

Thanks for your continued support and hard work .... here's to another fantastic year!

About Us:

The Allentown Garden Club was re-established in March of 2000, and is open to all area residents. We currently have about 35 members, both male and female. We have members of all ages with varied gardening interests and different levels of experience.

The are many wonderful "social" aspects of our club, as well as our function as a service organization in our community. Garden club members are required to accept committee assignments and actively participate in club and community projects.

In order to support our civic programs, we have developed different fund-raising events which include our bi-annual Hidden Gardens Tour.

We are members of The National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. and The Garden Club of New Jersey, District 7 - Delaware Valley
